It is true that plants require different wavelengths, or colors, of lights in order to be healthy and grow up big and strong, and many of you have probably seen pictures of hydroponic systems lit up all in purple. The reason for this is because the two colors of light most needed by plants are blue and red, so growers will often create LED grow lights out of these two colors resulting in a purple glow. While this is beneficial for a number of reasons, the truth is any LED light that outputs true white light can be used, this is because white light is made up of the entire visible spectrum and so necessarily contains the appropriate colors needed by your plants!
When looking for appropriate lighting, LED lights are an excellent choice, they are cheap, produce less heat, and can produce light over the entire visible spectrum. Try to choose LEDs that emit a color temperature around 4-5000K and
